HSLAB Print Logger
Installing SQL 2005 Express Edition
SQL Server 2005 - Express Edition is a 'Free' product that Microsoft has provided for use within smaller production environments. It primary limitation in a network is the maximum database size which is limited to 4GB per database. Though the maximum database size is likely sufficient for the Content Database and the Messaging Archive (Email and Instant Messaging Journaling), administrators must be vigilant in monitoring the statistical database (IpmStatistics) which is used for accumulating traffic statistics and generating Traffic Reports from the accumulated data. If accumulated statistical data exceeds the 4GB maximum, the HSLAB Print Logger will not function properly and steps will need to be taken by administrators to reset the data retention values for the various database tables and/or purge aged data from the database tables.
Prerequisite Software:
SQL Server 2005 (including the Express Edition product) requires that Microsoft .NetFramework 2.0 be installed prior to the installation of the SQL engine.
If this product is not installed, at the time of the installation of SQL 2005, the installer will prompt you and stop until the product is in place.
SQL Server 2005 - Express Editions Software:
The Express Edition software can be downloaded from the Microsoft product support website:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/download/
